Well, Valentines Day is Tuesday. This is the one day every year in which people get to express their utmost joy that certain people exist. You may exchange cards with friends, send candy and flowers to a girlfriend, boyfriend, fiance or spouse. Let us take a moment to peek into the dictionary and see what the definition of Valentines Day is.

"St. Valentine's Day falls on February 14, and is the traditional day on which lovers in certain cultures let each other know about their love, commonly by sending Valentine's cards, which are often anonymous. The history of Valentine's day can be traced back to a Catholic Church feast day, in honor of Saint Valentine. This sort of holiday seems highly pointless, in my opinion. Why should their be only one day in which you can send flowers and pleasent cards to people you care about? Why can't we send these sort of things all year 'round? Why is only one holiday considered the "official" love holiday? In all honesty, Christmas and Thanksgiving can be just the same sort of holiday, too, depending on who you spend it with. Regardless of this, every year, millions of people get sucked into the vortex known as Valentines Day. They buy the heart-shaped powder candies with short phrases written on them saying "You're sweet" "I love you" "Be my Valentine" and other such things. Why? Because Valentines day is the only time of year in which you are able to purchase such "sweet saying" candies. The holiday has become far too commercial. I imagine in the early Middle Ages, it was a highly pleasent holiday. Before it was commercialized and serialized.

Now don't get me wrong, I'm not writing all of this out because I'm single, or bitter, or anything like that. I don't have anything against people who are in relationships. But for god's sakes--don't let Valentines day be the only holiday in which you belt out the lovely cards and show someone you care. You are quite capable of doing that every day of the year. Why only this day?

And so help me god if ANYONE sends me another card with the phrase "Be my Valentine, signed anonymous" I will hunt you down, drag you out of your house and beat you with oranges.
